The Custody Business Function aims to expand Bank of China (BOC) Group’s network of UK sub-custodians to increase BOC London Branch’s Assets under Custody, while also collaborating with other market infrastructure providers (ICSDs) to build BOC London Branch’s market capabilities. The Function is responsible for Sales, Marketing, Product Development, Pricing and Operations Processing.
The Custodian Services team is responsible for the safekeeping and administration of financial assets, primarily by financial institutions like banks or trust companies, on behalf of individuals or institutions. As a Senior Vice President - Custody Services, your responsibility is to develop the Custody Business and to support the daily operations. This is a full time permanent position.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily supervision and oversight of trade capture and settlement of all activity for BOC’s custody clients
- Accurate and timely processing of all corporate actions and income events
- Provision of all client reporting in an accurate and timely fashion, ensuring that client service expectations are met
- Ensure all control obligations for the function (reconciliations, exception handling, data management) are performed appropriately
- Maintain a robust and well controlled risk environment, through demonstrating understanding, awareness and proactive management of the distinct types of operation risk
- Ensure adherence to all compliance obligations under relevant regulatory regimes pertaining to custody provision (e.g. CASS, MiFiD II) and support on developing and updating relevant policies and procedures in accordance with Head Office and regulatory requirements and oversee implementation and compliance of them
- Ensure adherence to compliance, conduct and risk appetite expectations as defined by senior management
- Support the Head of Department with client marketing and business development, including coordination with Head Office and different business lines within the Bank
- Support ongoing development of the custody services offering and acting as an external liaison for custodians and clients
- Daily management and oversight for the custodial services team, alongside ongoing personal development for the individuals within it
- Take ownership of the Bank’s custodian product including product development (product design, system enhancement), customer service, sub-custodian network management (vendor management) and other related responsibilities
- Act as product specialist from a technical perspective to support development and attend relevant client meetings as and when required
- Deputise for the Head of Department when required
Requirements
- Degree level educated in Finance, Banking or other related subject
- Experienced working with Board and Executive level stakeholders and track record of building robust trusted working relationships with senior stakeholders
- Demonstrated people management experience
- Excellent work experience within the Financial Services industry
- Proven experience in custodial services business in an operational or business development role and ideally both sides
- Good understanding of the Three Lines of Defence Risk Management model
- Demonstrated knowledge of the UK regulatory environment
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly and accurately
- Fluency in Mandarin is desirable
- Ability and track record of working collaboratively in a team

- Proven ability to implement and deliver on a project plan with business targets
- Professional work ethic with drive and ambition
