What you'll do:
As Senior Indirect Tax Manager based in Uxbridge, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality operational advice on indirect taxation across Europe and Africa. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve reviewing intricate business transactions for potential tax impacts, leading critical projects that ensure ongoing compliance with changing regulations, managing complex audits involving negotiations with authorities, and overseeing robust risk management frameworks. You will also play a vital part in interpreting new legislation for the business while providing strategic input on cross-border activities such as VAT or customs duties. By collaborating with IT specialists on digitalisation projects like e-invoicing rollouts or SAF-T implementations, you will help streamline processes for maximum efficiency. Building trusted relationships internally and externally will be key as you mentor colleagues in Controllership or Shared Service teams handling routine matters. Your expertise will directly contribute to enhancing the visibility of the Tax function within the organisation while supporting its next phase of growth.
- Review and analyse complex business transactions to identify tax-sensitive issues and deliver clear, well-documented recommendations that align with both business needs and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and support a variety of tax-related projects, ensuring full compliance with evolving regulations while meeting organisational objectives.
- Manage significant non-income tax audits by advising on strategy and negotiating effectively with tax authorities across different countries.
- Monitor changes in tax law, interpret their implications for the business, and communicate findings clearly to internal stakeholders at all levels.
- Oversee comprehensive tax compliance and risk management processes to ensure adherence across multiple jurisdictions within Europe and Africa.
- Provide strategic guidance on cross-border transactions, VAT matters, customs duties, and emerging indirect taxes such as sugar or plastic taxes.
- Collaborate with internal teams to drive automation initiatives and digitalisation of tax compliance processes for greater efficiency.
- Work closely with technical in-house IT teams and global software vendors to meet deadlines for all regional tax digitalisation projects including e-invoicing and SAF-T reporting.
- Support financial reporting from a tax perspective by ensuring accuracy, transparency, and alignment with relevant regulations.
- Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external advisors, and tax authorities to facilitate effective information exchange and drive continuous improvement.

Your academic achievements should include at least a bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting—ideally complemented by postgraduate study—and recognised professional qualifications like CPA or ACA. Beyond technical proficiency in indirect taxation matters spanning VAT through customs duties to emerging levies like sugar or plastic taxes, your interpersonal skills must shine: you’ll need to communicate complex ideas simply yet persuasively across diverse stakeholder groups. Project management acumen is essential as you juggle multiple priorities simultaneously; equally important is your willingness to nurture others’ growth through mentoring. A collaborative mindset will see you thrive as you work closely with IT experts on digital transformation projects while maintaining open channels with external advisors or regulators. Your ability to adapt quickly amid regulatory change—and your passion for ongoing learning—will set you apart.
- Demonstrated experience within finance, controllership or taxation roles—ideally gained through both Big 4 accountancy firms and major multinational corporations.
- Proven track record of at least five years specialising specifically in indirect taxation within large-scale organisations operating across US or European markets.
- Degree holder in Finance, Accounting or Business disciplines; BA/BS required with preference given to those holding graduate-level qualifications in Tax or Finance.
- Professional certifications such as CPA, ACA, CTA or regional equivalents are highly desirable for this role.
- Exceptional technical knowledge of indirect taxes combined with advanced analytical skills that enable you to assess complex scenarios quickly and accurately.
- Outstanding communication abilities allowing you to engage confidently with senior stakeholders across various divisions while simplifying technical concepts for non-specialist audiences.
- Strong project management capabilities paired with a results-oriented approach that ensures timely delivery of key initiatives under pressure.
- Proactive attitude as a self-starter who embraces hands-on involvement while demonstrating eagerness for continuous learning and professional development.
- Ability to mentor colleagues effectively by sharing your expertise generously while taking on extended responsibilities when needed.
- Adept at building collaborative relationships both internally (with finance/IT/controllership teams) and externally (with advisors/tax authorities), fostering an inclusive environment focused on shared success.
