And what a team! You will be working with a determined and committed group, passionate about protecting and enhancing the green spaces, cemeteries and commons in Elmbridge. They know the value of these spaces to our residents, especially our most vulnerable residents.
Leading the Countryside Rangers you will work with the Countryside Officer to manage Elmbridge`s diverse and extensive countryside estate. The estate covers 625 hectares of land and you will help with all aspects of countryside management including heathland, woodlands and wetland.
A skilled conservation manager with enthusiasm for nature conservation.
An enthusiastic individual is sought for an immediate start. Must demonstrate interest in nature conservation and possess a current driving licence.
You will be able to demonstrate that you can,
- Implement the annual review of the Countryside Strategy, instigate and assist in its review, including woodland management, nature conservation and public consultation.
- Ensure staff are trained in all works expected to be undertaken including training on Health and Safety Regulations.
- Undertake and monitor tree works in the absence of the Arboriculture and Countryside Officer. Have an overview of the Arboricultural Service to enable informed answers to customers enquiries.
- Procurement of countryside management works- for example forestry contracts and an annual ditch maintenance contract
- Liaison with local conservation groups and recording of ecological surveys on Council owned land.
