What you'll do:

As a Mergers and Acquisitions International Tax Specialist, you will be instrumental in supporting ongoing and upcoming transactions that are central to the organisation’s portfolio simplification strategy. Your day-to-day activities will involve collaborating with senior leaders to provide timely tax advice on complex deals spanning multiple jurisdictions. You will be deeply involved in due diligence processes—preparing documentation, reviewing findings from external advisors, and addressing queries from potential purchasers. Your analytical skills will be put to use as you identify optimal transaction structures that align with commercial objectives. Working hand-in-hand with Business Development teams, you will help shape new business cases by offering practical tax insights. In addition to transaction-specific work, you will advise on broader international tax issues such as capital allocation optimisation and financing strategies. You will also play an active role in driving strategic initiatives within the tax function—developing stakeholder engagement plans that foster collaboration across departments. By building strong relationships internally and externally, you will ensure seamless delivery of projects while continuously seeking ways to enhance processes for greater efficiency. Your ability to communicate complex concepts clearly will be essential as you present findings to senior management and adapt your approach depending on audience needs.

Provide expert tax advice on mergers and acquisitions transactions, ensuring alignment with best practices and supporting the delivery of commercially appropriate solutions.
Assist with all aspects of tax due diligence processes, including preparing virtual data rooms, reviewing diligence reports, and responding to purchaser queries as required.
Identify alternative transaction structures to inform commercial decision-making and prepare comprehensive tax structuring reports for internal stakeholders.
Collaborate closely with Business Development teams to assess new ideas and business cases, adding value through insightful tax analysis and recommendations.
Work with both external advisors and internal teams to deliver robust tax advice on complex international matters related to capital structure, financing arrangements, and cash repatriation strategies.
Support Country Tax Leads by providing guidance on financing structures, capital allocation optimisation, and UK treasury tax matters such as loan relationships, foreign exchange issues, restructures, and transfer pricing considerations.
Contribute to strategic tax initiatives by assessing value generation opportunities for the group and implementing plans that require effective communication at all organisational levels.
Prepare stakeholder engagement plans designed to influence key decision-makers positively and secure buy-in for proposed initiatives.
Lead or support ad hoc projects as needed, identifying process enhancements while considering risk impacts across the organisation.
Develop strong working relationships with colleagues across Group Tax as well as other functional areas such as Treasury, Legal, Corporate Finance, Strategy, Business Development, Discovery teams, and external service providers.

A proven track record in mergers and acquisitions within the field of taxation gained through experience in commerce or with a leading accounting or law firm is essential for this position.
Comprehensive understanding of the UK tax system with particular emphasis on its application to transactions, financing arrangements, treasury activities; wider international tax principles would be highly advantageous.
Experience in transfer pricing related specifically to loan relationships is desirable but not mandatory; familiarity with international tax residence rules is beneficial.
Ability to analyse large volumes of information efficiently—extracting key facts—and apply sound judgement when making recommendations or conducting risk assessments.
Demonstrated strategic thinking capabilities: able to design effective solutions for complex issues while considering both immediate needs and long-term impacts.
