Job Summary
Working with the Commercial Assistant Director, the Head of Commercial will play a critical role in collaborating with key business stakeholders on a wide range of commercial matters. You will be joining our small but friendly and highly skilled team of 16 people, who are committed to providing an excellent service to the business.
Our Commercial Assistant Director is dedicated to delivering a first-class customer service, taking an innovative and creative approach to commercial and procurement processes. We believe in working in a collaborative way and value diversity in experience and perspective to foster good decision making and problem solving within their team.
The role involves leading, coaching and mentoring the commercial team who manage four spend categories and associated management information. You will be a key member of the commercial management team, supporting delivery of our mission, achieving strategic objectives and business plan targets, whilst promoting the Homes England values.
A key focus of the role is to work collaboratively with key business stakeholders across the Agency’s directorates on a wide range of commercial matters, particularly the most complex contracts and grants schemes, supporting the implementation of contract management best practices and contributing to increasing commercial capability in the business.

Person specification
The key skills and knowledge we are looking for are:
- Procurement professional with (10 years +) experience in public procurement and a Procurement Act 2023 Advanced Practitioner (or currently working towards or willingness to complete).
- A relevant professional qualification (MCIPS or equivalent or currently working towards).
- Experience of people management and managing a team
- Experience of supporting complex multi-stage procurement processes
- Good understanding of the disposals process for land and property
- Experience of analysing complex information to make informed strategic and commercial decisions
- Track record of delivering savings
